The announcement: “Our team is being penalized for the second time this season for incidents of racist behavior. This decision results in a penalty requiring our next home game to be played behind closed doors, as well as a fine of €40,000.
It is truly tragic that, in such an important and symbolic year for APOEL—as we celebrate a century of history, dedication, and pride—we are faced with incidents of this kind. Those who engage in such behavior should be ashamed. Through their actions, they not only undermine the values of sports, social solidarity, and human equality, but also APOEL’s 100-year history.

As the club’s administration, we are making every effort to identify those responsible. This effort will continue with the aim of holding those involved accountable.
Addressing this issue, however, is the responsibility of all of us. Each of us must contribute to eliminating behaviors that have no place at APOEL and undermine its history and values.
Such behavior “bleeds” APOEL, first and foremost morally, but also financially. They hurt the team, deprive the fans of the opportunity to support it from the stands, and tarnish an anniversary that should unite us all around our history and our pride.
APOEL is its history, its values, and its people. Its 100 years deserve the respect of us all.”
