Cypriots abroad: Goals by katsantonis, robertson, and makris (VIDEO)

The achievements of cypriot soccer players competing abroad
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Last weekend was quite productive for Cypriots living abroad. In Poland, Andreas Katsantonis hit his stride and scored goals for the second consecutive game.

The Piast striker opened the scoring for his team, which ended in a 2-2 draw at Wisła Płock. This was the Cypriot forward’s second goal of the season.

In England, we’ve previously covered in this column the case of an Anglo-Cypriot soccer player who ultimately decided to play for the Cyprus national team—specifically, Marcus Edwards. A… similar case is that of Josh Robertson (center photo). The 20-year-old midfielder is eligible to play for Cyprus because of his Cypriot mother. He plays for Fleetwood (yes, the team that recently knocked Arsenal out of the tournament) on loan from Brighton. Robertson scored his first goal in a Fleetwood jersey in the 3-1 victory over Bristol Rovers.

In Greece, Andreas Makris is getting plenty of playing time with Larissa, which competes in the second division. The Cypriot star was the one who paved the way for his team’s victory, opening the scoring against Olympiacos B. Final score: 2-1.
