Has the hatchet been buried? Time will tell, but Cristiano Ronaldo is on Portugal’s preliminary roster for the November Nations League matches, despite his dispute with Jorge Jesus.
The Portuguese coach is expected to announce the final roster on November 6 for the matches against Denmark on November 14 in Braga and against Wales three days later.
The federation announced last week that Cristiano Ronaldo had been handed a 30-day suspension, because he left the national team on September 30. Since the suspension was retroactive, it began on the day he left the squad and does not prevent CR7 from playing in upcoming matches.
In a written statement on October 7, the 41-year-old player apologized for his behavior to Portuguese fans and his teammates on the national team, while also confirming the rift in his relationship with Jorge Jesus. The Portuguese star accused his coach of breaking his word by leaving him on the bench during Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway, as well as failing to follow through on the agreed-upon plan to resolve their dispute during a press conference.
