A particularly emotional moment unfolded at the PSAPP celebration, with Tasos Hatzigiovanis becoming visibly moved as he read his message about little Dimitris.
The former Omonia soccer player and current OFI player was unable to hide his emotional distress as he bid farewell to a child who fought his own brave battle against neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer that primarily affects infants and young children.
Hatzigiovanis had actively stood by Dimitris’s side when, about a year ago, he launched a fundraising effort to cover the costs of his treatment. The Greek star had donated 12,500 euros at the time, covering the amount needed for the young boy’s treatment.
Despite his valiant fight, Dimitris was unable to survive. In his message, the soccer player emphasized that he will continue to offer his help wherever and whenever he can, concluding with a phrase full of emotion and faith: “Good will always prevail!”
