Asteras Tripolis has found a replacement for Giorgos Antonopoulos. According to the latest reports, the Arcadians have already brought Gonzalo Feio to Greece, and he will take over as the team’s head coach.
He is a 36-year-old coach originally from Portugal, whose preferred formation is the 4-3-3 and who got a taste of the Greek league as an assistant to Kiko Ramírez at Xanthi in 2019.
As a head coach, he took the helm at Motor Lublin in his first coaching job, leading the team for 54 matches, followed by 14 months at Legia Warsaw, with whom he also won the Polish Cup.
His stint at Dunkerque lasted just 13 days, as he left without ever coaching the French club, and he also had brief stints at Radomiak and Todela.
His teams tend to play particularly attacking soccer, as seen during his tenure at Legia Warsaw, where they scored 123 goals and conceded 72 in 62 matches, and a similar record was achieved at Motor Lublin, with 85 goals scored and 52 conceded in 54 matches.
Gonzalo Feio was greeted at the airport by team manager Jeronimo Barrales, and he was personally selected by Savvas Tsambouris, who had been in talks with various candidates over the past few days. In fact, the young coach appears set to sign a 2.5-year contract, as Asteras AKTOR believes he is a choice worth investing in.
