Olympiacos faces a strong Marko side in the 4th round of the Superbet Greek Cup!
The “Red-and-Whites” take the field today (3:00 p.m.) at the home of the Superbet League 2 leader, looking to extend their 7-game winning streak across all competitions and, at the same time, make it three wins in three Cup matches, along with taking another crucial step toward direct qualification for the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Facing them is Marko, which has impressed everyone with its performance so far in this year’s Superbet League 2 championship! Having dropped points in only one of its first eight matches (a 0-0 draw against Ellada Syros) and coming off an impressive 4-0 victory in Nea Smyrni in the top-of-the-table clash against Panionios, Souli Papadopoulos’s team heads into tonight’s match in high spirits, knowing they’ll have to go the extra mile to secure another positive result. In the Cup, they first drew 2-2 with Kifissia and then lost 1-0 to Aris, while they now face an away match against Niki Volos.
On the other hand, Olympiacos had an easy afternoon last Sunday, turning their home match against Kalamata into a one-sided affair. The final 5-0 score reflects the flow of the match, with the “Red-and-Whites” “breaking down” their opponent’s defense with two goals late in the first half and scoring three more in the second half. In the Cup, they have two wins against AEL Novibet (0-4) and Volos (3-2)
On the field, Imanol Alguacil is expected to field a starting lineup with numerous changes, as he wants to give most of his regulars a rest. Youngsters Filis and Koutsogoulas are expected to start the game, while Sipioni is also expected to see some playing time; he is the only player who has not seen any action since the Basque coach took over. Marius will once again be the starting forward, while Bailey, Sa, and Martins will most likely start behind him.
