The AEL women’s team suffered a 95-37 loss to Zábřeh Brno at “Spyros Kyprianou” Arena in Group A of the EuroCup Women. The Czech team demonstrated its quality and depth, taking control of the game early on and preventing the blue-and-yellows from finding their rhythm.

AEL scored the first basket of the game with Sarah Ousfar, but Zábini responded immediately and gradually began to pull away. The visitors found ways to score both in the paint and from the perimeter, with Stoupalova, Ryan, and Ginzo leading the way on offense. The Cypriot team tried to stay close with Pilakouta, Ousfar, and Mead, but the first quarter ended 10–27.

In the second quarter, AEL played better and managed to significantly limit their opponent’s offensive output. With Pilakouta and Oikonomidou creating opportunities, and Quinerly scoring on a drive to the basket, the blue-and-yellows played a more balanced game. Zambini, however, comfortably maintained its lead and went into halftime ahead 42-23.

The game’s momentum shifted decisively after halftime. Zambini stepped up the intensity on defense, pressured the ball movement, and capitalized on AEL’s mistakes to score easy points in transition. The lead quickly widened, with the Czech team closing out the third quarter at 68–28.

Despite the way the game was going, AEL kept fighting until the end. Dimitra Papalla made plays in the paint and finished the game as the team’s leading scorer with 11 points, while all available players saw playing time. Zambini maintained her high pace until the final minute, bringing the final score to 37–95.

AEL was unable to find its offensive rhythm this time around, as evidenced by the fact that it finished the game without making a single three-pointer out of nine attempts. Facing them, however, was a team that spread its scoring across many players, dominated the boards, and capitalized on its advantage in size and bench depth.

AEL’s leading scorer was Dimitra Papalla with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Eleni Pilakouta and Sarah Ousfar each scored six points. For Zampini, Natalie Stoupalova had 16 points and nine rebounds, Paula Ginzo had 15 points, Lydia Giomi had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Ema Kamenikova had 10 points.
