The 23-year-old player is currently under contract with Nice in France and made 28 appearances for Empoli in Serie B last season.

As reported, Ilie will leave his current team as a free agent even though he has a contract for one more season. In fact, Romanian sources report that Ilie will earn approximately 25,000 euros per month with the “blue-and-yellows,” while his former club, Rapid Bucharest, had also shown interest in signing him.

It should be noted that the Romanian attacking midfielder has previously played for Maccabi Tel Aviv, Lausanne, and Catanzaro.

Here’s what they’re reporting in detail: “After playing on loan at Empoli last season, the Italian club did not retain him, and the midfielder returned to Nice, with whom he has a contract through 2027. However, Rares Ilie is not in the French team’s plans, so he is expected to sign with APOEL Nicosia.

According to trumedia, Ilie is reported to have reached an agreement with APOEL, a team in the Cypriot first division. Last season, the Nicosia-based team finished in 5th place in the standings with 52 points, 36 points behind the champion, Omonia.

Ilie will leave the French club as a free agent, even though he is under contract for another year; however, Nice will retain a percentage of any potential future transfer fee.

In Cyprus, Ilie will earn a salary of approximately 300,000 euros per year, which amounts to about 25,000 euros per month.

Consequently, Rapid may decide to stop pursuing Ilie’s transfer for the current transfer window.”
