The 23-year-old accused of stabbing an 18-year-old in Agios Dimitrios was transferred to the psychiatric ward at Korydallos Prison. According to Greek media, the accused reportedly claimed that he does not remember anything that happened, while the victim’s father states that he wants the perpetrator to be punished.

As reported, despite the police officers’ persistent questions about what happened on Menelaou Street and the attack on the young man, the 23-year-old perpetrator responded with the phrase “I don’t remember anything.”

Specifically, after his statement, it was decided to transfer him to the psychiatric ward at Korydallos Prison, while the victim—for his part—described what happened last Tuesday at noon.

I was walking down the street when I saw him coming out of an apartment building; I realized he was following me, and he started saying something to me, but I didn’t pay any attention. He approached me and told me to give him everything I had, and immediately afterward he attacked me.

The 23-year-old’s side of the story—he has no prior criminal record—claims that the alleged perpetrator suffers from mental health issues. Police are investigating whether this is true or if the motive was robbery. So far, however, no personal dispute between them has come to light.

“I want him punished”

In the next 24 hours, once the 18-year-old has recovered from his head and back injuries, he is expected to be called in to testify, while his father remains by his side, expressing his desire for the perpetrator to be punished.

“My son asked me to drive him because I usually take him to practice. I took him to the field in the morning, around 7 a.m.; he practiced until 8 a.m., and then we came home. I had gone out, and at 5 p.m. he had walked to practice; 500 meters before he arrived, what happened happened, and he managed to find his phone and call me.”

It should be noted that after the 23-year-old was arrested, police searched the area to find the knife; but they were unable to locate it and believe the suspect managed to dispose of it. Immediately after the incident, the 23-year-old went home, where police arrested him after a passing motorcyclist noticed the blood on his hands and alerted the Emergency Response Unit.
