AEK was decimated by gastroenteritis following its participation in the Rhodes tournament. Seven AEK players, three coaches, and one member of the coaching staff have shown symptoms of gastroenteritis.
In fact, upon the team’s arrival at the Athens airport, Gaios Skordilis felt severely unwell and required first aid.
In addition to the seven players who are ill, “Enosis” also has four injured players (Flionis, Williams, Brown, and Fizel), which makes even holding practices very difficult.
Given these circumstances, it remains to be seen whether and how AEK will compete in the “Nikos Fasouras” tournament, which will take place Friday and Saturday in Peristeri. Dragan Sakota’s team is scheduled to play against Cluj on the first day (5:45 p.m.) and against Karditsa on the second day (6:00 p.m.).
As a reminder, AEK begins its official season next Saturday at the Super Cup in Rhodes.
