Javier Aguirre is at the helm of Valencia. The “Bats” announced the hiring of the 67-year-old coach. The experienced coach’s contract (replacing Carlos Corberán) runs through the end of the current season, and the goal is to pull the team out of the… team out of the mud, as it has collected just four points in the first seven La Liga matches and is second to last.
If he manages to secure a European spot for Valencia, the former coach of the Mexican national team—as well as, among others, Atlético Madrid, Zaragoza, Osasuna, Espanyol, and the national teams of Egypt and Japan—will have his contract extended for one season.
