New testimony is adding to the preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Giorgos Mazonakis, with an EKAV paramedic appearing today before the office of the investigating magistrate who is handling the case file.
It should be noted that the witness in question had been summoned to the clinic on Karneadou Street to attend to Giorgos Mazonakis’s cardiac arrest, and during her testimony —which lasted approximately 60 minutes—she reportedly confirmed the statements she had previously made to the police during the preliminary investigation.
Specifically, the witness reportedly stated before the judicial authorities that the crew followed all established protocols for handling the incident and that neither of the two defendants accused of—Ilias Theodoropoulos and Ioanna Gaka—did not ask the EKAV crew to accompany them during their transport to the hospital.
“Mazonakis had suffered a cardiac arrest several minutes earlier.”
It should be noted that the paramedic appeared in court at the former Evelpidon School accompanied by the president of the EKAB workers’ union, George Mathiopoulos.
In his statements, Mathiopoulos referred to the scene the paramedics encountered upon their arrival at the Karneadou clinic, saying that Giorgos Mazonakis appeared to be a man who had suffered aa cardiac arrest several minutes earlier.
