In a way that’s starting to become… a habit, Panathinaikos went 3-0 in the EuroLeague, comfortably defeating Maccabi Tel Aviv 90-67 at the “Telekom Center”!
The “Greens” once again followed the same game plan as in their first two games against Paris and Villeurbanne, as they came out strong on the glass, built a significant lead early on, and then completely controlled the pace, cruising to victory without any pressure. On offense, the home team’s explosive play stood out, as they had five players score in double figures.
Gershon Yabusele led the winners with 17 points, while Dinos Mitoglou had an outstanding performance with 8 points and 8 rebounds. 11 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals for the off-target Silven Francisco (1-for-8 from three-point range); Isaac Bonga contributed significantly with 10 points and 4 rebounds, Lefteris Mantzoukas scored in double digits again with 11 points.
Special mention should be made of Nigel Hayes-Davis’s return to action, with the American forward playing for the first time this season following his injury and serving as yet another important “weapon” at Zeljko Obradovic’s disposal. In fact, he was outstanding, recording 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal.
Quarter scores: 25-10, 43-24, 68-43, 90-67
