They say the Cup is the tournament of surprises, but this time the Carabao Cup really went too far…
In the round of 16, Fleetwood—a team that plays in League Two, that is, in the fourth tier of English soccer and currently sitting in 18th place in the standings, hosted Premier League champion Arsenal, and managed to knock them out in a penalty shootout.
The two teams were tied 1–1 at the end of regulation, and with a 5–3 victory in the penalty shootout, Highbury erupted in celebration in one of the biggest upsets in the tournament’s history.
