The 2.5 kilograms of drugs found in a package that arrived in Cyprus on October 26—and for which two people were arrested— a taxi driver and a 22-year-old.
Specifically, on October 26, 2026, officers from the Customs Department at the Larnaca Airport Customs Warehouse inspected a courier package that had arrived from the U.S. and was flagged as suspicious for drug trafficking.
During the initial X-ray inspection of the package, suspicions were further confirmed, and during the subsequent physical inspection of the package—which had been declared to contain plastic toys— a quantity of cannabis with a total gross weight of 2 kilograms and 560 grams was found inside four airtight nylon packages. The drugs were seized by the Customs Department and immediately handed over to the D.A.O.E. – YKAN for further investigation, as part of the coordinated efforts carried out by the two agencies to prevent the importation of narcotics into the Republic of Cyprus.
According to a statement released today by the aforementioned agency, following a lengthy operation yesterday afternoon, two individuals were arrested, including a 22-year-old man alleged to be the recipient of the package, while additional quantities of cannabis, a large sum of money, and cell phones were found in the 22-year-old’s possession.
