Police in Paphos are investigating a new case of cyber fraud involving a Greek Cypriot woman as the victim.

According to the complaint filed with the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department, the woman, who works at an accounting firm, received an email (email) that appeared to come from a bank and asked her to update her personal information.

Unaware that it was a scam, the woman followed the instructions in the email and entered her information. However, shortly thereafter, she discovered that 6,000 euros had been withdrawn from her bank account.

As soon as she realized she had fallen victim to an online scam, she filed a report with the police, who are investigating the case.

According to the police, this new case serves as a reminder of the dangers lurking behind deceptive emails, which are used by criminals to steal personal and banking information.
