Brighton came away with a win at the Etihad, just as they would have ideally liked to do a few days ago in the Carabao Cup Round of 16. However, after falling short in a penalty shootout back then, they’ve now gotten their revenge in league play.
Hürzeler’s “Seagulls,” with Babis Kostoulas on the field for 72 minutes, scored the only goal in the 11th minute and from then on withstood the pressure while also handling the lackluster performance of Enzo Maresca’s players!
After a perfect start to the first seven matches, City lost to Aston Villa and suffered its second consecutive defeat—its first this season in front of its home crowd. Ayari capitalized on Nunes’ mistake and converted De Keper’s assist for the 1-0 lead, which, despite the fact that City had plenty of time to respond, failed to do so, as their star players were having an off afternoon.
Bournemouth secured its third consecutive Premier League win and sixth across all competitions (!) as Rose’s squad continues its… winning streak! The “Cherries” took a 2-0 lead against Leeds, with Evanilson opening the scoring in the 31st minute off a massive mistake by Trafford—a play he’d rather not watch again, even on video. Adley sealed the final score in the 94th minute with a pass from Krupi, making for an even more jubilant afternoon at Vitality Stadium.
Brentford won by the same score as Nottingham Forest, which remains in the relegation zone! A poor play by Milenkovic in the 30th minute and a goal by Igor Tiago in the second half sealed the 2-0 victory for Keith Andrews’ “Bees.”
Coventry found Sunderland at a terribly vulnerable moment and made sure to take full advantage, making it 3-1! Frank Lampard’s “Sky Blues” played the perfect game to claw their way out of the relegation zone against the “Black Cats,” who remain at the bottom of the standings. Sakamoto, Avonigi, and Rudoni scored for the victors; Le Fi’s penalty kick had no impact on Le Bris’s team.
Konstantis Tzolakis’s Hull drew 2-2 against Ipswich, though they briefly took the lead, they were unable to hold on to it. A “thunderbolt” from Enkiso in the 74th minute helped the “Tractor Boys” secure a draw and deny the “Tigers” their first win since August…
