Rain, thunderstorms, and fog: What the weather has in store for us through Wednesday and which areas will be affected

The meteorological service's forecast in detail
ALPHANEWSLIVE

A weak low-pressure system is affecting the region.

Today, the weather will be partly cloudy with occasional cloud cover, while isolated showers are initially expected in the west and north. Gradually, and especially after noon, clouds will build up, bringing isolated showers or even thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains, in the north, in inland areas, and in the east. Winds will initially be variable and light, at 3 Beaufort, before gradually becoming mainly offshore, light to moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will rise to around 25 degrees inland and along the coast, and around 16 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear, though there will be periods of increased mid-level and high cloud cover. Later on and during the early morning hours, low clouds and patchy fog or mist are expected to form in some areas, particularly inland and in the east. Winds will be light, blowing downslope at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 13 degrees inland, around 15 degrees along the coast, and around 9 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

On Monday, there will initially be locally increased low cloud cover and light fog or mist, while the weather will gradually become partly cloudy, mainly with mid-level and high clouds.

On Tuesday, the weather will initially be mostly clear, but later, increased local cloud cover is expected to bring isolated showers, and isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out, mainly in the mountains, inland, and in the southeast. On Wednesday, there will be periods of increased local cloud cover, with isolated showers or even thunderstorms expected, mainly in the western half of the island.

Temperatures will rise through Tuesday and drop slightly on Wednesday, remaining above average for this time of year.
