With promising signs, thanks to this year’s increased rainfall, the hunting season for small game opens tomorrow, Sunday, November 1.
An estimated 36,000 hunters are expected to head out into the countryside tomorrow in search of hares, partridges, and francolins.
Just a few hours before the start of the hunting season, many are rushing to hunting supply stores to stock up on the essentials.
“On the last day before the hunt, people will buy their ammunition, some clothing, and boots.”
Panagiotis Koutsidis – Store Manager
“Cypriot hunters are always last-minute, but always in good spirits. This year is a very good hunting season, and we’re expecting plenty of game—we hope.”
Despoina Alexandrou – Store Manager

Authorities will be on high alert, conducting patrols throughout Cyprus. Hunters must carry a valid hunting license and a firearm possession permit.
For each hunting trip, the bag limit for each hunter is one hare, four partridges, and one woodcock.
“They should consult the Artemis CY app to find out which areas are open for hunting. They should be aware that they must report their bag count in the app so that the data is shared with our agency. They should always wear high-visibility orange clothing to be visible to other hunters and should wear their hunting glasses.”
Petros Anagiotos – Press Spokesperson for the Game and Wildlife Service
