Republican Vicente “Tony” Ada won 51.45% of the vote, compared to 48.15% for Democrat Therese Terlache, ending eight years of Democratic rule on the island, according to early results from the U.S. midterm elections.
In contrast, the Democrats won Guam’s seat in the House of Representatives, with Alicia Ann Garido Limtiaco prevailing with 51%, compared to 48.84% for Republican James Moylan. It should be noted that Guam’s delegate does not have voting rights on the House floor.
Trump Celebrates
Trump congratulated Ada via Truth Social, expressing hope that the result foreshadows similar successes for Republicans in the remaining elections.
“Let’s hope this is a sign of things to come,” he said.
The results remain unofficial, pending certification by Guam’s election commission.
