A group of about 12 adults, who were using skateboards to perform tricks, reportedly caused damage at four different locations in public spaces within the Municipality of Paphos, according to a statement by Paphos Mayor Angelos Onisiforos.
As Mr. Onisiforos noted, despite repeated warnings from the Municipality and assurances from those involved that they would leave, the individuals moved from one public space to another, eventually ending up at a total of four different locations throughout the city.
According to the acting mayor of Paphos, the police have already been notified of the incident, and photographic and video footage documenting the group’s activities is available to the relevant authorities.
Mr. Onisiforou emphasizes that public spaces are municipal property and belong to all residents, stressing that those who visit the city must respect its infrastructure and property.
“It doesn’t matter where someone comes from. What matters is that they respect the place they are visiting,” he states, noting that the group reportedly came from abroad, while also calling on those who cause damage to take responsibility for their actions.
The incident is expected to be investigated by the relevant authorities, as the Municipality, according to the announcement, has evidence of the damage caused.
