The UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Cyprus, María Ángela Olguín, stated on Wednesday following her meeting with the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman, that she had met with the Turkish “ambassador” in the occupied territories to receive a message sent to her from Ankara.
Specifically, when asked about this, Ms. Olgin stated that she had been informed by Turkey’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs that a message had been sent to her via the “ambassador.”
“That is why I came to meet him—simply to receive this message—which I also explained to Mr. Christodoulides,” she added.
Regarding her meeting with Mr. Erhurman, Ms. Olgin said they discussed how to proceed in preparation for the leaders’ joint meeting on Monday.
