There appears to be some movement on the Cyprus issue, with the President expressing optimism about positive developments, despite his dissatisfaction with the meeting between María Ángela Olguín and the Turkish “ambassador” in the occupied territories.
As reported by journalist Evangelos Agapiou on Alpha TV’s main newscast, despite the illegality of María Ángela Olguín’s meeting with the Turkish “ambassador” in the pseudo-state, the news appears to be positive.

Ms. Olgin was scheduled to meet with the Turkish Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Mr. Bonzai, who, according to reports, frequently visits the occupied territories and pulls the “strings” on Ankara’s behalf.
This meeting did not take place due to the Turkish official’s schedule, which is why the meeting with the “ambassador” took place instead.
The illegality of the meeting is a given; however, it appears that the Turkish official conveyed a very specific message to Olgin and to both leaders.

The activity being reported concerns all aspects of the Cyprus issue, with reports indicating that it is focused primarily on the MOEs ahead of Olgin’s joint meeting with the two leaders on November 9.
Ms. Olgin’s meeting with the President of the Republic took place just yesterday and lasted 25 minutes.
During the meeting, Ms. Olgin posed questions to the President in the form of requests for clarification.
The President of the Republic appeared optimistic after the meeting and is looking forward to Ms. Olgin’s meeting with Tufan Erhurman on Wednesday.
Specifically, when asked by reporters whether the message from the Turkish “ambassador” offers hope for progress, despite the illegality of the meeting, President Christodoulides stated, “I believe it creates prospects for positive developments. I will be able to update you with greater certainty tomorrow, once I have been briefed myself.”
Meanwhile, commenting on his meeting with Ms. Olgin, the President noted that it was a very brief meeting: “It was a very specific briefing, and she received a specific response from our side.”

“Let’s give diplomacy a few more hours,” he added, noting that, as far as he understands, the UN Secretary-General is being kept fully informed of all of Olgin’s meetings.
“And in the coming hours, we will be able to say with certainty that there are positive developments.”
He also noted that “I am pleased that our continuous submission of proposals and recommendations is not only recognized but also demonstrates our initiative,” he added that the main objective and goal is for there to be news that paves the way for positive developments.
