Israeli opposition leader Gadi Eizenkot, who was selected by President Isaac Herzog, to form a government, pledged that he would “do everything” to fulfill the task entrusted to him.
“The time has come to form a national emergency government. I will do everything to ensure that we rise to the occasion,” Eisenkot wrote on X.
Earlier, Eisenkot’s party, Yasar, called on members of outgoing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party to join the next government. “If Likud and its allies suddenly become interested in ‘unity’ and a broad coalition government, they are welcome to publicly announce the dissolution of their alliance with the extremists (…) and their willingness to join a government headed by (…) Eisenkot,” the Yasar Party wrote on X.
Yesterday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that a coalition government between the opposition bloc and the Arab parties would makethe State of Israel.
