At around 11:50 a.m. today, a 55-year-old man was driving his vehicle on Agia Marina Street in Pyrgos, Limassol, when, under circumstances that are under investigation, he veered slightly to the left and collided with a wooden ATIK utility pole, where his vehicle came to a stop.
The 55-year-old was injured in the collision and was transported to a private hospital in Limassol, where, despite the efforts of the medical staff, he died shortly before 2:00 p.m.
Members of the Limassol Traffic Police and the Moni Police Station arrived at the scene, where they conducted the necessary investigations and documented the scene. Based on the investigation so far, it has been determined that the 55-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt.
It should be noted that, at this stage of the investigation, the possibility that the 55-year-old’s death was due to underlying medical conditions cannot be ruled out.
The legally required autopsy on the body will be performed at a later stage to determine the exact cause of death.
The Limassol Traffic Police, in cooperation with the Moni Police Station, are continuing their investigation.
