A doctor from Greece arrived in Cyprus with illegal cosmetic surgery products in his luggage.
Specifically, on October 24, 2026, Customs Department officials, after evaluating information and with significant assistance from members of the DAOE – YKAN, identified a passenger arriving from Greece and proceeded to inspect his luggage.
During the physical inspection of the luggage, they found 5 packages (vials) containing a liquid used in cosmetic procedures, as well as one vial containing an anesthetic solution, which is also used in such procedures.
These products were seized, and a request was forwarded to the competent Pharmaceutical Services for instructions regarding their handling.
On October 27,2026, Customs Department officials were informed that the products in question did not hold a marketing authorization in the Republic of Cyprus and, consequently, proceeded to seize them due to a violation of Article 9 of the Medicines for Human Use (Quality Control, Supply, and Prices) Law 70 (I)/2001.
The case is currently under further investigation by the Larnaca Customs Office.
