The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Public Works announced today, Monday, the launch of two tenders for road improvement projects in Agia Fyla and the Limassol Tower area, with a total estimated cost of €347,741 (excluding VAT).

According to a related announcement, the call for bids was preceded by on-site visits by Minister Evi Tsolaki and officials from the Department of Public Works to the areas of Agia Fyla and Pyrgos Limassol, during which road network issues were examined and specific commitments were made to move the two projects forward.

Specifically, the first project, in Agia Fyla, involves connecting Idomenous Street with 1st April Avenue and Sfaktiria Street and includes earthwork and paving, the construction of sidewalks and a stormwater drain, the construction of a retaining wall and fencing, as well as road marking work. The estimated cost of the project is €184,150, excluding VAT.

The second project involves widening the intersection of Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue, in the Parekklisia area, with the road leading to the Pyrgos Limassol Community. It includes earthwork and paving, the construction of a retaining wall, the installation of metal guardrails, and road marking work. The estimated cost of the project is €163,591, excluding VAT.

For both tenders, the deadline for submitting bids is November 18, 2026, with construction work scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027, and an estimated construction period of three months for each project. Funding will come from national resources.

The announcement emphasizes that “the government of President Nikos Christodoulides, while promoting major infrastructure projects in Limassol (the Limassol–Saittas highway and Evagoras Lanitis Avenue, which are expected to be put out to bid in 2027), it is also advancing smaller projects that are nonetheless significant because, in combination with existing and new road infrastructure, are expected to contribute to improving road safety, alleviating traffic congestion, and reducing inconvenience to citizens.”

In conclusion, the Ministry of Transport assures that it continues to move forward with the remaining projects included in its plans for the Limassol district.
