Clear messages from the greek prime minister

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent clear messages regarding domestic issues, international geopolitical developments, economic pressures, and the fight against crime, during his opening remarks at the Cabinet meeting.

Referring to the Turkey-Libya memorandum, Kyriakos Mitsotakis made it clear that claims that violate the Law of the Sea cannot create a fait accompli nor influence Greece’s strategic planning. “Arbitrary claims that run counter to the Law of the Sea have no validity. They do not create a fait accompli, nor do they undermine our national plans,” he said.

At the same time, he highlighted international geopolitical developments, pointing to the Greek initiative for a global maritime truce. As he explained, the aim of the proposal is to ensure free passage through critical maritime trade routes, helping to limit the impact of international turmoil on the cost of living.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis also made special mention of the economy, acknowledging the difficulties faced by many Greek households due to international uncertainty. The Greek Prime Minister noted that global economic turmoil cannot be effectively addressed through national policies alone, but he assured that the government is making full use of the available resources to support society. “We are doing our best. The reserves built up through our prudent economic policy give us reason for cautious optimism,” he said, linking the resilience of the Greek economy to the fiscal policy that has been pursued.
