A race for first place between DISY and AKEL, ELAM consolidates its position as the third-largest party, and the struggle to rally support

Four months after the parliamentary elections and in the midst of the campaign period for the presidential elections, a poll conducted by RAI Consultants Ltd. on behalf of “alpha” reveals both the dynamics and the consolidation of support among the parties.

The situation has not changed significantly since last May’s election, with DISY maintaining its lead and AKEL trailing by a narrow margin. ELAM is consolidating its position as the third-largest party. More specifically, there is a neck-and-neck race between DISY and AKEL, as the polls had already indicated during the pre-election period. Without extrapolation, DISY is at 17%, AKEL at 16%, and ELAM follows as the third party with 10%. DIKO now appears to be stabilizing in fourth place with 7%, followed by ALMA and Direct Democracy with 4%. VOLT stands at 3%, EDEK at 2%, while the Ecologists’ Movement and the Hunters’ Party each stand at 1%. For parties not listed on the chart, there was not a large enough sample size.

It is worth noting that 15% of respondents say they are undecided, 9% say they would abstain, 3% would cast an invalid vote, and 7% did not respond.

The findings are also particularly interesting with regard to party loyalty. ELAM appears to be the most resilient, with 86% of voters stating they would vote for it again, followed by AKEL with 76% support, ALMA at 70%, and DIKO at 69%. DISY’s loyalty rate of 68% is considered low and may be linked to the party’s inward-looking nature. It is no coincidence that the poll was conducted shortly before Anita Dimitriou withdrew and in the midst of an unprecedented period of internal strife. Direct Democracy recorded the lowest level of voter cohesion at 57%, reinforcing the impression that the party has not built a solid core of voters.
