On October 23, Turkey issued a new NAVTEX from the Antalya station regarding scientific research and underwater surveys to be conducted at 12 specified coordinates in the Mediterranean between October 26 and December 31, 2026, in the maritime area between Turkey and occupied Cyprus.

According to the website of the Turkish state television network TRT, the surveys will be carried out by the vessels R/V Denar Pathfinder, Denar Echo, Denar Explorer, and Kırıcı. The NAVTEX calls on mariners passing through the area to maintain a safe distance from the vessels at work.

The TRT Haber website reports that the planned natural gas pipeline between Turkey and the pseudo-state aims to deliver natural gas from Turkey to the island in the future and to strengthen thepseudo-state’s energy security. It is claimed that following the construction of the undersea pipeline from Turkey to the pseudo-state, the project is considered one of the key steps toward improving energy infrastructure between “the two countries.”

The NAVTEX announcement stated that the notice will expire on December 31, 2026.
