AEL’s home victory over Digenis kicked off the fourth matchday

A comfortable victory
ALPHANEWSLIVE

TRIA EKA AEL emerged victorious in the opening game of the 4th round of the first phase of the ECOMMBX Basket League Championship, which just concluded at the “N. Solomonidis” Arena.

AEL, after leading 42-26 at halftime, ultimately won 71-49.

This is the third win of the season for the Limassol team, while it was also the third loss for Digenis.

Clark led the winners with 21 points and 25 efficiency points.

The game got off to a slow start as both defenses were very strong.

However, starting at the 5-minute mark, AEL imposed a fast pace while finding ways to break through Digenis’ defense.

This resulted in them building a steady lead, and by the end of the first quarter, they were ahead 20–11.

As for the second quarter, with Clark leading the offense, the home team extended its lead shortly after the 15-minute mark, taking a 36-17 lead.

The lead then reached 20 points (42-22), with AEL now shooting quite accurately, and so at the end of the first half, they led 42-26.

Early in the third quarter, Digenis narrowed the gap to 44-32.

AEL then consistently maintained a lead of more than 11 points (48–37), and at the 25-minute mark, the home team led 52–37.

Digenis tried unsuccessfully to mount a comeback, so AEL extended their lead even further and, at the 30-minute mark, led 61-39.

With the lead at 22 points, it was highly unlikely that anything would change with the remaining time…

The pace slowed, and with the lead remaining around 20 points—always in favor of the home team—the score reached 67–44 at the 35-minute mark.

Although Digenis tried to close the gap, AEL ultimately secured the victory with a final score of 71–49.

Quarter scores: 20-11, 42-26, 61-39, 71-49.
