AEK’s press officer, Kyriakos Dimitriou, spoke to “Super Sport 104.0.”
He began by discussing the draw against Krasava ENY, describing it as a missed opportunity for the “yellow-and-greens” to solidify their position at the top of the table.
He then turned his attention to the upcoming match against Karmiotissa, emphasizing that the team must get back to winning ways.
Here are his comments in detail:
On the draw with Krasava ENY: “With all due respect to our opponent, who put up a good fight against us, for us it was a missed opportunity to build on our recent successes. Even though the match turned out this way and we remain in first place, we don’t see it that way because we missed the chance to solidify our lead in the standings. In the first half, we didn’t handle certain situations correctly, such as the two penalty kicks. In the second half, we came back; we were more aggressive, but all we could manage was to tie the game. We hit the crossbar with Köhler, but we ended up with just one point. It feels like we gave away two points. The momentum suggested that if we’d had a little more time, we would have turned the game around. We have to try to make sure these mistakes aren’t repeated in the near future.”
On the fact that the team is building toward improvement: “We’ve said it before, even after positive results—that the team is developing and has room for improvement. In a marathon, there will be bad days too, but the team with the most staying power will make the difference. The priority now is to find ways to perform as we should going forward. We’re playing at home against Karmiotissa, and we have to get back on the winning track.”
