Panagiotis Fasoulas announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK). “The Spider,” who ran in the last two elections, emphasized that he will run for the Federation’s presidency, explaining that his ambition is to advance basketball as a whole.
In his remarks on the Athens 9.84 radio station, Panagiotis Fasoulas stated: “I will run for the presidency of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK). My ambition, however, is not to become president of the Federation, as I can contribute to basketball in many different ways. I do not seek to impose my views. My true ambition is basketball itself—the sport that made me who I am and that made all of us who we are today.

We cannot allow it to lose its value in the minds of the Greek people. We must keep it held high so that we, too, can continue to be who we are. Otherwise, we, too, will become products of a sport that has been discredited and shattered in the consciousness of Greek society. That is my concern for basketball.”
