Marseille took an early lead, and Le Havre came dangerously close to tying the score, but the home team managed to hold on to their lead and secure a 4-3 victory.
From the opening minutes of the match, Marseille made their intentions clear. Just five minutes in, Egan-Riley opened the scoring with a header, while in the 20th minute, Abdelly took a shot but saw his attempt go wide of the left post.
The second goal, however, came in the 33rd minute thanks to a superb individual effort by Weah, making it 2-0. Marseille started the second half in the same vein, and in the 50th minute, Paissao extended the lead even further to 3-0.
Within five minutes, Abdelly picked up the rebound inside the box for the home team’s fourth goal, while Le Havre managed to pull one back in the 77th minute on a penalty kick by Maja. But it wasn’t over yet, and the visitors made it 4-2 with a header by Diaye in the 86th minute.
Le Havre came even closer to equalizing when Maja collected the ball off a free kick and sent it into the net to make it 4-3. However, there wasn’t enough time left to shift the balance of the match, and the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
