In light of Markos Seferlis’s legal dispute, Giorgos Liagas, during today’s broadcast of his show, spoke about a scam a friend of his had pulled on him in the past, in which the friend “stole” over 350,000 euros from him.
This was a direct attack, and he revealed that he had hinted at it from time to time. He took a stand and sent a strong message:
“I’ve had a similar experience in the past. He was a man I considered a brother—I hosted him at my home, we went on vacations together…,” Giorgos Liagas said at first.
Giorgos Liagas then added: “The man had studied at the University of Economics and was a stockbroker. He had embezzled over 350,000 euros from me.
What bothered me the most is that when I realized he’d stolen from me, before I even filed a lawsuit against him, he went and did this to me too… …that I had made the whole thing up, that I’d just made it up in my head that he’d stolen from me, because the money wasn’t mine—I’d borrowed it, lost it, and lied about it.
And to top it all off, I got beaten up too! I went to court to prove that I didn’t set up the whole thing. The brokerage firm also came to his defense and said the same thing—that the money wasn’t mine and that I’d made it all up. I was completely vindicated!
When we were in the courtroom, I spat in his face one day. When someone gets right in your face, has swindled you out of 350,000, and calls you a liar, I spat in his face. And let me tell you, they didn’t even kick me out of the courtroom. Years later, he apologized to me.”
