Police officers seized more than 1,400 ampoules containing nitrous
oxide (laughing gas), following a coordinated
overnight operation at nightclubs in Ayia Napa.
Specifically, during the night, members of the Drug Enforcement Unit (Y.K.A.N.), with the assistance
of members of the Special Anti-Drug Unit (M.M.A.D.), carried out a coordinated operation, based on a court
warrant, at nightclubs in Ayia Napa. During the operation,
four premises were inspected; in three of them, a total of
1,423 ampoules containing nitrous oxide
(a controlled pharmaceutical substance), also known as laughing gas, 455 balloons, and three
metal canisters.
As part of the operation, two individuals were arrested for illegal
possession of a Class B controlled substance, while the Ayia Napa Police Station continues its investigation.
