Jorge Jesus left the door wide open for Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to the Portuguese national team.
The Portuguese coach, following his team’s 2-1 victory over Norway, responded to a question about CR7 and whether or not he might return.
Jesus clarified that it was a misunderstanding, emphasizing that just as Ronaldo was called up for this phase of the qualifiers, he will be called up for the next one as well, while stressing that the door will remain open for the great CR7.
In detail:
“I don’t know what will happen. As far as I’m concerned, everything is open. Cristiano needs to decide what he wants to do with his life before the next call-up to the national team. If he wants to be on the national team and play, why not? There’s no ill will—it was just a misunderstanding. I believe the issue can be easily resolved. When? I don’t know. The game is over, and now we’ll see how things play out. I’m not upset. I had a year to work with him. We have a very good professional friendship. That’s all.”
