It was a rollercoaster ride at the “Giuseppe Meazza” in today’s opening match of the 8th round of Serie A, which ended in a 2-1 victory for Inter over Fiorentina.
The “Nerazzurri” were the better team for most of the match, creating numerous scoring chances, including two shots off the crossbar by Augusto in the 71st and 76th minutes, and they should have been awarded a penalty as well.
On the contrary, it was the “Viola” who, thanks to De Gea’s saves and Jiménez’s goal, took the lead against the run of play in the 65th minute!
Inter didn’t give up; they put immense pressure on Fiorentina in the final ten minutes and were rewarded in stoppage time. That’s when Touré first pulled one back in the 91st minute and then earned the penalty that allowed Zieliński to seal the 2-1 victory in the… 98th minute!
