Michael Carrick will remain on the Manchester United bench at least until Saturday's match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (2:30 p.m.) in the Premier League.
Although there were calls for his immediate replacement following the team’s recent disappointing results, he will have one more chance to save his job.
United has not won in eight matches following Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford, and sits just two spots above the relegation zone with seven points.
Saturday’s midday trip to Chelsea in the league kicks off a difficult week for United, which will then host Roma in the Champions League group stage and Aston Villa in the league.
