The ridiculous fine Barcelona was ordered to pay for illegally approaching Álvarez

Atlético madrid's complaint was upheld
ALPHANEWSLIVE

One of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer—which ultimately fell through—was Barcelona’s titanic effort to sign and acquire Julián Álvarez from Atlético Madrid.

The Argentine himself was eager for the transfer to go through, but he hadn’t counted on the “host,” as Atlético was unwilling to let him go, despite the flood of millions the “Blaugrana” laid at their feet. The Madrid club’s stance was clear from the very beginning, as they did not want to lose one of their most important offensive weapons.

In fact, Diego Simeone’s team took the situation to the extreme, filing complaints against Barcelona with both the Spanish and world soccer federations for illegally approaching their player. The case took on an official dimension, causing tension in relations between the two clubs and bringing to the forefront the issue of compliance with regulations in transfer negotiations.

A few months later, the decision was handed down and ruled in favor of Atlético; however, the penalty imposed on Barcelona was not particularly severe. Specifically, Barça must pay a fine of 602 euros for failing to comply with orders, instructions, agreements, or regulatory obligations.

This amount is obviously negligible and considered a formality, representing one of the lowest financial penalties provided for such violations of the Spanish Football Federation’s regulations.
