In effect until 6:00 p.m. on October 28, the Meteorological Service’s yellow warning for severe thunderstorms with strong gusts of wind and possible hail remains in effect.

Here is the detailed forecast:

A low-pressure system centered over the Aegean Sea is moving southeastward and affecting the region.

Today, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms expected at times, initially in the western half of the island and gradually spreading to the rest of the region. Hail is expected during thunderstorms. Winds will be mainly southeasterly to southwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and temporarily along the coast up to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. During thunderstorms, winds will shift and intensify, with gusts reaching up to 7 to 8 Beaufort. The sea will be generally slightly rough. Temperatures will reach around 25 degrees inland, in the south, and in the east; 23 degrees in the west and north; and around 14 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

Tonight, the weather will continue to be mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, initially along the coast and gradually spreading to the rest of the country. Hail is expected during thunderstorms. Winds will remain mainly southeasterly to southwesterly; inland and in the mountains, they will be light to moderate and temporarily moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and along the coast, moderate to strong and at times strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. During a storm, winds will shift and intensify, with gusts reaching up to 7 to 8 Beaufort. The sea will remain generally slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 15 degrees inland, around 16 along the coast, and around 7 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

On Thursday, the weather will be mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Hail is expected during thunderstorms. These conditions may be intense or prolonged in some areas. Winds will be strong, particularly in coastal areas.

On Friday and Saturday, there will be periods of increased local cloud cover, which may bring isolated showers, mainly in the mountains.

Temperatures will drop slightly on Thursday, and no significant change is expected through Saturday, with temperatures continuing to remain below seasonal averages.
