ALPHANEWSLIVE

The Department of Road Transport has issued a recall for another 52 vehicles from various manufacturers due to a defective airbag.

Specifically, the Department of Road Transport informs the public that fifty-two (52) vehicles of various makes have been identified as being affected by a recall involving defective TAKATA airbags.

It should be noted that a defective airbag may cause the airbag inflator to rupture, resulting in the ejection of metal fragments, which could cause serious injury or death.

To prioritize public road safety, the above vehicles have been subject to a recall, and an informational SMS message was sent to the vehicle owner’s contact number, as recorded in the Department’s computer system. In addition, the procedure for notifying owners by the manufacturers’ distributors/dealers will be implemented, as stipulated in the relevant legislation.

The Department of Road Transport recommends that the affected vehicles not be used until the defective part has been replaced. Compliance prevents a serious road safety hazard and protects the lives of drivers, passengers, and third parties.

For more information, interested parties may contact the Department of Road Transport by phone at 22807000 or via email at [email protected].
