Olympiacos has essentially already “secured” its place in the next round of the Europa League and is the overwhelming favorite to skip a round in the knockout stage by finishing in the top eight of the group stage.
According to Football Meets Data, the “Red-and-Whites” have a 99.9% chance of finishing in the top 24, while there is a 75.1% chance they will finish in the top eight. Only four teams have a higher probability than Imanol Alguacil’s squad: Benfica (99%), Bournemouth (98.7%), Juventus (88.7%), and Ferencváros (78.3%).
It should be noted that Olympiacos still has matches against Milan at home (11/26), Celié away (12/10), Hoffenheim at home (1/21), and Torrense away (1/28).
Following its second victory in the Europa League, yesterday with a 2-0 win over Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Bucharest, has a 55.7% chance of finishing in the top 24, but currently sits in 25th place based on its percentage. As for its chances of finishing in the top eight, they stand at just 1.4%.
Christos Kontis’s team’s next opponents are Anderlecht at home (11/26), Benfica on the road (12/10), Sturm Graz away (Jan. 21), and Lech Poznan at home (Jan. 28).
