AEK: A shake-up in the starting lineup against Levadiakos

Nikolić's plan
ALPHANEWSLIVE

AEK has put the game against Real Madrid behind them and has turned its full attention to Sunday’s match against Levadiakos at Allwyn Arena (5:00 p.m.). Following the loss to Panathinaikos, there is no room for further losses, and AEK wants to head into the international break in good spirits ahead of the difficult stretch leading up to the… 2026 finale.

Marko Nikolić is planning a few, carefully considered, changes to the starting lineup. Rota is out due to yellow cards, and it remains to be seen whether Georgiev or Gacinovic will be chosen to replace him (who, however, left the match against Real Madrid with an injury). It’s unlikely that the Mukundi-Relvas duo will be split up at center back, and the in-form Pilios will likely retain his spot as well. In goal, it’s not out of the question that we’ll see Strakosa return, unless the Serbian coach wants to give him a few more training sessions before bringing him back between the posts in place of Brignoli.

In midfield, we can count on Vitalis (who didn’t play on Wednesday) and Marin (who came off the bench), while the candidates for the wings are Koita, Mayer, Koutesa, and Mandalos. Options there are limited, as Zubkov is out for 6–8 weeks with a stress fracture, while João Mário has been sidelined by pneumonia. We’ll definitely see Varga leading the attack, while Jović and Zini are vying for the other spot.
