Technical consultations on implementing the Gaza Plan will continue in Cyprus next week.
The news was revealed by the newspaper “Times of Israel,” which reported that the meetings on Cypriot soil will not have a Cypriot dimension, but rather a purely technical approach to the overarching goal, which is none other than restarting efforts toward reconstruction and political stabilization in the Palestinian enclave.
“The meeting will be attended by representatives of the Peace Council and the committee of Palestinian technocrats tasked with replacing Hamas in the governance of the Gaza Strip, as well as the Office of the High Representative, which coordinates these two bodies.”
Cyprus’s Role
The news was confirmed by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letympiotis, who referred to Cyprus’s diplomatic role in the efforts to shape the future of Gaza.
“The Executive Branch of the Peace Council has chosen our country—a country that has demonstrated in practice how beneficial it is and how many initiatives it has undertaken.”
He recalled the eight-point proposal submitted by President Christodoulides for the reconstruction of Gaza.
“Amid the many geopolitical developments in recent times, we have said many times that we must not lose sight of the plan to rebuild Gaza.”
The consultations in Cyprus, specifically in Ayia Napa, will take place from June 30 through July 2.
