With these words, the U.S. Embassy in Cyprus describes the new head of its diplomatic mission in Nicosia, John Breslow, who presented his credentials today to the President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides.

But who is the new U.S. Ambassador to Nicosia?
Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He is also an experienced pilot, with more than 48 years of flight experience.
Ambassador Breslow has had a distinguished career in business, politics, and philanthropy. He was the owner and president of Linweld, Inc., one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, as well as welding products, in the United States.
In addition, he is a minority owner of the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team in the NHL and AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League, and previously served as an alternate representative on the NHL Board of Governors.
In public service, he served two terms as State Auditor of Public Accounts for the state of Nebraska and later ran for the office of Governor of the state. In the early stages of his political career, he also served as a commissioner on the Lincoln Human Rights Commission in Nebraska.
Philanthropy has been a constant part of his journey. He has served as president of the Madonna Foundation, a member of the Board of Directors of the Lincoln YMCA in Nebraska, and a member of the Board of Directors of EMT Corp.
John Breslow has been married to Sonia Breslow for more than fifty years. Together they have three daughters and five grandchildren.
