DISY launched a new attack against AKEL, arguing that “the public knows the truth” regarding the party’s time in government, during which, it claims, it “ruined the country”.

In a statement, the Democratic Alarm also refers to the economic crisis and the Dromolaxia case, while taking a dig at AKEL’s decision not to field its own candidate in the elections.

The people know the truth. The one and only time they trusted AKEL to govern, it ruined the country.
Poverty, unemployment, business closures, social grocery stores, cuts to wages and pensions, inequalities, deficits. Cyprus in the trash!
They also witnessed AKEL’s blatant scandal in Dromolaxia—not merely an allegation, but a court ruling. And there was AKEL outside the courthouse, protesting!
With their dogmatic views, they wanted to keep an eye on illegal explosives—and blew up the country.
The public knows these things and many others. And AKEL knows them too. Given the bombast with which it speaks, if it actually believed them, it would dare to run its own candidate.
