A historic first victory in the major leagues of Greek basketball for the Vikos Falcons—and against a traditional powerhouse of the Stoiximan GBL, no less!
October 31 will forever be etched in “gold” letters in the annals of the Ioannina team, as Thanasis Giapeles’s team celebrated its first-ever league victory, prevailing decisively and fairly with a 95-84 win over AEK at the “Sideris Karadimas” Indoor Arena for the fifth round of the Stoiximan GBL.
The home team took full advantage of all of AEK’s… struggles, their absences, and their lack of game rhythm due to injuries, maintaining the lead for almost the entire game and even building a +16 lead!
Freeman led the winners with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 5-for-6 from three-point range, while Karakostas (17 pts., 4 ast.) and Agravanis (15 pts., 3 three-pointers) and Floyd (9 pts., 7 assists) providing valuable support.
For Enosis, which fell to 2-3 and suffered its third consecutive loss across all competitions, Larentzakis (23 pts., 5 ast., 4 rebounds) and Bartley (18 points), as well as Joseph (9 points, 10 rebounds), on a night when Thomas Heurtel, Kison Fizel, Landers Nolay, and Derrick Williams.
Quarter scores: 20-16, 46-43, 71-60, 95-84.
