Lionel Scaloni lost his mother. Eulalia Marchetti passed away at the age of 74, following a long battle with health issues that had plagued her for about five years. She lived in Puchato, Argentina (Scaloni’s hometown), where she had previously served as a local justice of the peace.
The Argentine Football Association issued a statement of condolence for the Argentine coach: “The Argentine Football Association, led by its President, Claudio Tapia, extends its condolences to our coach and his entire family on the passing of his mother. All Argentines send a brotherly embrace to ‘Gringo’ and his loved ones during this difficult time. Stay strong!”
