The formidable Aris continues to steal the show in the Greek league, and in the 6th round of the Stoiximan GBL, the “Yellows” easily won on the road against Doxa Lefkada, prevailing 88-77.
Aris proved in the most emphatic way possible that the midweek loss to Hapoel Jerusalem (84-73) midweek in the EuroCup was merely a blip, and they returned to their usual form, celebrating yet another league victory—their fifth in a row—one week after their impressive win over Panathinaikos (101-91).
With this victory, Aris climbs to the top of the standings—albeit temporarily—with a 5-1 record, while Doxa Lefkada slipped to 2-4. Vassilis Spanoulis’s team is showing consistency, finding solutions on both ends of the court, and proving that it has the quality to be a contender.
The standout of the game was the incredible Dimitrijevic, who finished with 25 points, shooting 6-for-6 from three-point range, while dishing out five assists and grabbing three rebounds. On the other side, Harmon was the standout for Lefkada, recording a double-double with 22 points and 10 assists.
From the start of the game, Aris showed its aggressive side, easily building a double-digit lead (19-30), with the first quarter ending at +9 for the “Yellows” (23-32).
In the second quarter, Aris was even more relentless and began to build a commanding lead over Doxa Lefkada, which seemed unable to withstand the visitors’ pressure. The Thessaloniki team extended their lead to as much as +18 (28–46), with the two teams ending the first half with a score of 51–35 on the scoreboard.
The pattern of the game did not change after the break, with Aris showing no intention of allowing Lefkada to hope for a positive outcome, consistently maintaining a significant lead. The third quarter ended at 68-54.
The fourth and final quarter seemed to be a formality, with Aris flawlessly managing its lead and sealing the victory once and for all, setting the final score at 88-77.
The game confirmed the visitors’ superiority; they were in control from the start and were never truly threatened at any point in the match.
